The pulse-pounding trailer that brings Fire & Ash a step closer is now streaming (watch below).

Disney dropped the official cut after the clip emerged online, a leak that followed its first screen appearance tacked onto Fantastic Four: First Steps.

One fan admitted it the day it dropped: “Some of the most gorgeous footage I’ve lived with this year—pure light—and the dread runs right through it: fistfights inside lava storms, heroes trembling, skies slammed with fell ships.”

A savvy piece of industry commentary began with the shrug—“eh, another ticket, right?”—before the last second of the footage hooked it: “okay, call it another billion wired to Cameron.”

A film critic, usually both measured and caustic, turned lyrical: “these frames cross realms: the definition of the word ‘largest’ escapes them. I guarantee this is the top-grossing picture of 2025 and ‘epic’ wears it like a child’s glove.”

The brief glimpse tracks Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and the breathing clan into the guts of a battle in the heights. Steel-plumed ikrans ravage the sun, dual gunships in the slipstream.

Among the mêlée, Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) steps again, his visage a fresco of white bone, crimson streak, and raven paint, declaring in art and absence of speech that he—at last—walks beside the Ash People.

Kiri, in captivity, hears Varang coolly declare, “Your goddess has no dominion here.” A moment later, Sully warns Neytiri, “We cannot live like this,” before he is captured and marched before the occupation troops. Young Spider is repeatedly placed in situations that suggest danger.

According to “Reuters” The original Avatar, from 2009, remains the highest-grossing film ever: $2.9 billion worldwide. The Way of Water, released in 2022, ranks third, crossing $2.3 billion and proving skeptics wrong by matching the first film’s cultural imprint.

At this stage, no one questions Cameron’s ability to command box office gravity through this series. Anticipation for Fire & Ash is strong, given its holiday rollout on December 19.

Cameron has not set an exact running time but suggested that Fire & Ash “will be a bit longer” than The Way of Water, which clocked in at three hours and twelve minutes.

Accordind to The Hollywood Reporter “In a nutshell, we crammed too many fantastic concepts into the opening act of Way of Water,” Cameron explained recently. “The pacing was like a freight train, and we weren’t digging into the characters the way we needed to.

So I thought, ‘Let’s create breathing room.’ Fire & Ash will run a tad longer than Way of Water.”

The director remains committed to the five-film Avatar saga, vowing to lead the entire journey himself. Much of the principal photography, he noted, is already in the can. Avatar 4 is locked in for December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 lands December 19, 2031.

Once the Avatar slate is complete, Cameron plans to adapt Charles Pellegrino’s Ghosts of Hiroshima and Last Train from Hiroshima. The project would weave the true account of a Japanese man who lived through the atomic explosion at Hiroshima and the blast at Nagasaki. If realized, it would be Cameron’s first non-Avatar feature since 1997’s Titanic.

Fire & Ash features Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Britain Dalton, Jack Champion, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Matt Gerald, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Bailey Bass, Jemaine Clement and David Thewlis. The screenplay is by Cameron, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

Fire and Ash follows Jake and Neytiri’s family struggling after Neteyam’s death. They confront a fierce new Na’vi clan, the Ash People, led by the blazing Varang. As the conflict spreads across Pandora, the story shifts toward a new moral center which tests the very limits of what the Na’vi stand and fight for.
