Barbara Eden at 94: A Timeless Icon Still Loved by Generations.
Barbara Eden is 94 today, and the birthday love is pouring in!
Her official Twitter and Instagram accounts have gone all-out to help her celebrate, posting, “Let’s all take a moment to wish our favorite blonde, entertainment icon and Hollywood legend Barbara Eden a very VERY Happy Birthday today!” The message comes from her “Team Eden” and invites her fans to leave birthday wishes in the comments. If anyone needs a smile today, clicking through the birthday comments is the place to find it.
The birthday shout-out comes today, and the guys and gals of the “Team Eden” team included a lovely photo of Barbara sitting down in her famous genie pose, reminding everyone of just how easy it is to transport the rest of us to a Hollywood that’s forever sparkling.
Shortly before the big post, DJ and multi-talented “90210” Darling Jennie Garth shared her own birthday wish, calling Eden “an inspiration every time I see her.” It’s the best kind of ego booster from a screen sister to a queen!
Dozens of fans showered Barbara Eden with love, including actress Jennie Garth, who kept it sweet with a comment: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBARA🎈. I ❤️you!” Caroline Rhea added, “Happy Birthday ageless beauty!” One fan chimed in, “94 and beautiful as ever 💕 Queen,” while another reminisced, “I grew up seeing you on TV and you always made me smile. Happy and blessed birthday.”
Eden has racked up quite the resume: over 25 films, 19 TV movies, and five series in a dazzling 70-year run. Her first big break came in 1955, when she started popping up on The Johnny Carson Show as a recurring sketch comic.
Yet the role she’s best known for is the dazzling Jeannie—a 2,000-year-old genie who’s both in love with and always getting into trouble for astronaut Major Tony Nelson, played by Larry Hagman. I Dream of Jeannie ran five seasons, from 1965 to 1970, and turned Eden into a household name, locking her into the public’s heart ever since.
Eden married Jon Eicholtz in 1991 and they’re still going strong. Last year, on her 93rd birthday, Eden released a heartfelt message. She said she’s thankful for “another trip around the sun” and gave a big “thank you” to her friends and fans for all the love and birthday wishes.

In a 2024 chat with Fox News, Eden revealed her secrets for staying healthy in her 90s. “I used to do spinning classes and lift weights with a trainer,” she explained. “But COVID changed everything. Now I have a stationary bike and lift five pounds. Light weights are great for your bones.”
Eden eats well, she says, but she can’t resist dessert. “I’ve always been conscious of eating healthy, but I do have a sweet tooth,” she confessed.
“I love desserts so much! Key lime pie is a favorite.” Eden shared with Fox News. “My sister made me one for my birthday last year, and I can’t get enough. I’m seriously a fan of angel food cake, too. I whip one up and pour on the best bright lemon glaze—sharp and sweet. It’s the perfect combo!”
“Plus, I’m a total chocolate fan,” she smiled. “Chocolates, gummy candies, cookies…you name it. Really, there’s no dessert I won’t enjoy. So if you ever want to surprise me, just grab something on the sweeter side, and you’ll make my day for sure!”
