Doja Cat Trolls Sydney Sweeney Over Controversial American Eagle Jeans Ad.
Doja Cat took a jab at Sydney Sweeney’s new American Eagle Jeans campaign that’s been stirring up a storm online for what folks say is a thinly-veiled message.
On TikTok Tuesday, the hip-hop star mimics the Euphoria actress, repeating the commercial’s voiceover line for line. Where Sweeney delivers the script with her usual sultriness, Doja goes full-country drawl, stretching every vowel. “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color,” Doja drawls. “My jeans are blue.” Reported by “Rolling Stone”

Billboard has asked reps for both Sweeney and American Eagle to say something, and we are still waiting.
The video adds to a swelling tide of talk about the campaign Sweeney shot last month, which promotes both denim and some sort of elusive lineage. In the spots, she playfully swaps “great jeans” for “great genes,” and the editing lingers on her icy blue eyes and golden hair.
A loud section of the Internet, though, has widened the lens, arguing that the visuals echo older propaganda and boardroom plans that no one ever intended for TikTok.
As of today, Sweeney has stayed quiet about the latest uproar, and American Eagle has offered no comment either. This isn’t the first time the White Lotus star has come under fire for a commercial. Back in June, Dr. Squatch pulled a limited-release soap that boasted a formula made with the actual contents of her bathwater; critics were quick to brand it antifeminist.
According to “Yahoo” Doja shared her thoughts on the jeans dust-up while putting the final touches on her next album, Vie. It’ll be her first LP since 2023’s Scarlet. Earlier this July, she revealed the record, which she’s described as leaning heavily on pop, has officially been completed.
