Elizabeth Weber, Billy Joel ex-wife, is speaking up about their current relationship.
According to Us Weekly, Elizabeth Weber, Billy Joel ex-wife, is speaking up about their current relationship after their famous fling and nearly ten years of marriage. “I can call him any time I need to, and he can call me,” Weber told on Friday, August 8. “But he has a wife and kids now, and he’s dealing with something pretty serious right now.”
In May, Joel, 76, put a stop to the rest of his 2025 tour after doctors told him he has normal pressure hydrocephalus. This condition happens when too much fluid builds up in the brain, and it can mess with walking, memory, balance, and bladder control.
“After 40 years apart, we’re as close as we need to be,” she added. “I check in on him, of course, as any ex-wife would when she hears about her ex’s health.”
Weber met Joel when she was married to his best friend and bandmate, Jon Small. They started an affair, which led to the band’s breakup and plunged Joel into deep depression, marked by two suicide attempts.
The affair and the fallout are covered in the two-part HBO doc Billy Joel: And So It Goes, which aired in July.

Later, after Weber’s divorce, she and Joel reconnected and married in 1973. Their decade together was marked by music and love but ended in 1982. According to InStyle, Joel married supermodel Christie Brinkley in 1985, and together they had daughter Alexa Ray Joel before divorcing in 1994.
He wed cookbook author Katie Lee in 2004, but that ended in 2009. In 2015, Joel married Alex Roderick, and they have two daughters, Della Rose Joel and Remy Anne Joel.
According to People, Weber is the mother of Sean Weber-Small, whom she had with her first husband. In an interview with Us, she said her son and her grandchildren know Joel and have a good relationship with him.
“I have grandkids who call him Bill and who he calls grandkids,” she said. “Ella got him on TikTok and kept him up on all that. His bond with Sean matters just as much to both of them.”
She smiled. “So we’re not far, even if he’s in Florida and I’m in California. It’s all good.”
Weber shared that her son Sean and Joel “always clicked,” noting that when they were married, the three of them “lived on the mountain.”
“We kept each other busy,” she said. “Bill and I worked hard, and that whole music writing time we spent—never once did it happen in a booth or over some email. It was always in our living room, and Sean was right there, helping us.”
