On September 21, Styles crossed the Berlin Marathon finish line in 2:59:13, keeping a steady 6:50 per mile pace the whole way. That’s a big drop from the 3:24:07 (7:47 pace) he logged at the Tokyo Marathon only six months earlier.

He went again by the nickname “Sted Sarandos,” and once more kept his pace steady. Styles went through the halfway mark in 1:29:08 and then finished the second 13.1 miles in 1:30:07. That’s identical to the Tokyo run in March, where his halves were a near-superb 1:42:03 and 1:42:04.

In Berlin, the 31-year-old leveled up.

On race day for the Berlin Marathon, the weather felt more like summer than fall. Starting air temps hovered around 66°F, topping out in the mid-70s, and the sticky humidity added to the challenge for every runner on the course.

Social media photography from the event reveals Styles laced up the flashy “bright crimson” colorway of the Nike Alphafly 3, the latest Nike super-shoe. He paired those kicks with Tracksmith Van Cortlandt shorts and a sleek black long-sleeve top, blending fashion and speed.

A snapshot shared by Paralympic gold medalist Richard Whitehead showed Styles ready at the start line and grinning beside the racing legend.

Everybody knows Styles for hitting the big stage, winning three Grammys including “Best Pop Solo Performance” for “Watermelon Sugar” and taking home two for Harry’s House. But he’s also made the jump to the big screen in films like Dunkirk and Don’t Worry Darling.

Now he’s added marathon legend to his résumé. His Berlin finish came in under three hours, placing him among the fastest times ever logged by a celebrity. That sub-3 shows Styles really can run with the band—and then some.
