Jason Momoa Transforms Completely for New Movie Role—Fans Say He’s Unrecognizable.
The Aquaman and Minecraft Movie star Jason Momoa said it’s the first time in six years he’s gone so far with his appearance, and the result makes him look like a different guy.
On July 30, Momoa posted on Instagram while turning the clippers on his beard and mustache. Between swipes he talked about the water company he started and feels strongly about.
“Haven’t shaved in six years, and here we are again,” he captioned the post. While the clippers hummed, Momoa explained once more why he cares about Mananalu, the bottled water venture he founded.

After buzzing away one side of his beard, he paused and grinned, “Aw, man.”
Taking in the finished look, he declared, “I hate it.” He said this fresh face marks the “kick-off” for Dune: Part Three. “Only for you, Denis,” he joked, nodding to director Denis Villeneuve.
Variety confirmed he’ll be back alongside Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, and Florence Pugh. His son, Nakoa-Wolf, whom he shares with former wife Lisa Bonet, has a part, too.

The Aquaman star finally took the clippers to the big beard for the first time in six years while gearing up to film Dune: Part Three, where he’ll be back in the desert as swordmaster Duncan Idaho after sitting out the 2024 sequel.
“Goddammit,” he laughed in an Instagram video posted July 30, seconds after the last patches of dark scruff fell away. “I hate it.”
He called the shave a “kickoff” to a brand-new section of his life and raised a shoutout to Dune director Denis Villeneuve: “Only for you.”
At 45, his freshly exposed cheeks won’t be the only grin on set. His 16-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa—who arrived while he was married to Lisa Bonet—has already been tapped to play young Leto II, the son of Paul Atreides and Chani, a couple brought to life by Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya on the big screen.
“A rude awakening is definitely what he’s in for,” Jason laughed to Extra back in July. “He’s hitting the workforce for the first time. It’ll be fun to watch.”
He pointed out that Nakoa-Wolf “did it on his own,” and the Game of Thrones alum added, “You want your kids to outdo you, and I truly believe he is. I couldn’t have handled that kind of responsibility at his age.”

Jason Momoa was born on August 1, 1979, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is an American actor and filmmaker. He broke into acting with the role of Jason Ioane, lifeguard and surfer, on the action-drama Baywatch: Hawaii, which aired from 1999 through 2001.
After that, he traded the beach for distant galaxies, portraying the warrior Ronon Dex on the Syfy series Stargate Atlantis from 2005 to 2009. He became widely known for his fierce, iconic turn as Khal Drogo in the first two seasons of HBO’s epic Game of Thrones, which ran from 2011 to 2012.
