Lana Condor Recalls Her Meet-Cute with Her Now-Husband — Why It Felt Like a Taylor Swift Song.
Talking exclusively at the One House Toast to the Emmys in Beverly Hills, the 28-year-old star Lana Condor reminisced about how the awards show season has special meaning for her. It’s the moment she crossed paths with her husband, fellow actor Anthony De La Torre, ten years ago at an Emmys after-party. “Spending that kind of anniversary in the middle of the whole event makes everything feel like a little fairy tale,” she said with a smile.

“I locked eyes on him, and I never looked away,” Condor laughs now, replaying that moment. “It was like a scene straight out of a Taylor Swift song. I summoned him just with my gaze. There was no door out—he was totally mine.”
“I was with my girls, and I’m pretty sure he had his teammates with him. Somehow, we ended up just staring at each other, and that was it. He strolled right over, looked me straight in the eyes, and said, ‘Hey, I’d like to make a friend.’ In my head I was like, ‘Awesome, I’d like to find the one. Hi, nice to meet you.’”
After seven whirlwind years, Condor and De La Torre, 31, shared their engagement news on a snowy January morning in 2022.
“YES was the no-brainer of a lifetime,” the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before star wrote under stunning engagement snaps on Instagram. “I feel like the luckiest woman to orbit in your universe. The best man I’ll ever know—besides Dad—absolutely wears the crown.”
In that same heartfelt post, Condor revealed that De La Torre collaborated with the Vietnamese female-led brand, Paris Jewellers, to craft her ring—an exquisite tribute to her Vietnamese heritage.
“The fact he knew how important it was to me that he’d partner with a Vietnamese company to help design my ring shows how incredibly thoughtful he always is,” she shared. “I can’t wait to become your wife, baby. I love you a million times over.”
In 2022, Condor mentioned that even though she dreamed of marriage, she never bothered to sketch a full blueprint. “Growing up, I always knew I wanted a gorgeous wedding someday, but I never went full Pinterest or laid out every tiny detail. Anthony and I just ride the waves. We figure things out as they come.”

“What I can’t wait for most is the moment I see [De La Torre] at the end of the aisle,” she added. “I’m also so eager for my dad to walk me down the aisle. Already getting teary just thinking about it.”
A year later, in October 2024, the couple exchanged vows in a cozy ceremony at Malibu’s serene Serra Retreat. Condor looked breathtaking in Vera Wang, a gown she chose with the guidance of her late mother, Mary Condor. Smith added that it is the best Nashville song she will ever live.
The morning after their wedding, the newlyweds surprised everyone by getting matching tattoos of their wedding date. “This weekend will always be the happiest weekend of our lives,” Condor shared with Vogue shortly after the ceremony.
