Miracle To Metal Trailer: Christy Martin Story Unfolds

“Just when Christy Martin thought her life was set in a tiny West Virginia town, she discovers she’s born to throw a punch,” goes a recent film teaser.

“Fueled by raw grit and the urge to win, she steps into the boxing scene with her husband and manager, Jim,” segue the voiceovers, played by Ben Foster.

“But the fire that lights up the ring only hints at the hotter fights in her hometown — against family, a doubting self, and a love that seems to live and die by the scorecards,” the preview adds. “Based on miracle events, Christy Martin’s journey becomes one punchline at a time a call to survival and self-restoration.”

Sweeney, who steps into Christy’s gloves, first revealed scenes from the drama last October 2024. “Months of waking up sore and then waking up some more to step into the shoes of a woman who never stopped reclaiming,” she wrote, pasting sparring selfies on her Instaghttps://www.instagram.com/p/DBMAj2tOpMx/aram.

She added, “Her journey shows what it means to never give up, to fight through every obstacle, and to keep hoping and believing. I’m honored to put on her boxing gloves and tell her story with all of you.”

Back in June, Sweeney explained to W Magazine her intense prep: three-plus months of training and a deliberate 30-pound weight gain to nail the boxer’s sculpted look. “Daily, I packed three heavy meals, lifted first thing, kickboxed for two midday, then lifted again every evening. I felt a whole new body: stronger than I ever imagined.”

At the age of 57, Martin made history by joining the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2020. For the first time ever, women appeared on the Hall’s ballot. Over her impressive career, she scored 49 victories, including 31 by knockout.

Black Bear Pictures will share “Christy” with audiences when it lands in U.S. theaters on November 7.
