Taylor Swift today revealed her 12th studio album, titled The Life of a Showgirl. The 14-time Grammy winner—who has made history by taking home Album of the Year four times—shared the news on a New Heights podcast episode alongside boyfriend Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, and his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce.
“This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl, ” Swift said, gently holding up a digitally obscured album cover in a video clip that has circulated on Instagram.
The full podcast drops at 7 p.m. Eastern, 11:00 GMT. The album’s release date has not yet been disclosed on Swift’s website. Fans can pre-order the vinyl on the site for $30, the cassette for $20, and a CD bundled with a Swift poster for $13.
Her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department, opened with 2.61 million in album and streaming units in its debut week, marking the biggest streaming week for an album in history, as well as the highest vinyl sales week in the modern era, according to Billboard.
Spotify reported that “Poets” became the most-streamed album ever in a single week, topping 1 billion plays. Earlier in May, Swift finalized a buyout of her original six album masters, regaining full ownership of her early catalog after a prolonged spat with her previous label.
In 2018, she signed with Universal Music Group, the planet’s largest record company.
Now 35, Swift continues to rewrite the rule book, while her Eras Tour has been credited with injecting new life into local economies. Economists have dubbed the effect “Swiftflation,” thanks to the hike in hotel, dining, and travel prices that followed.
The tour is also the first in history to rack up over $1 billion in gross revenue. She is not the only superstar dropping new music this fall: Sabrina Carpenter’s “Man’s Best Friend” arrives in August, while Ed Sheeran’s latest record is set for September.
