Jason Momoa confirmed he’s dating actress Adria Arjona in May 2024.
The Aquaman star is moving forward. After wrapping up his divorce from Lisa Bonet in January, Jason Momoa let the world know he and Arjona are dating a few months later. They wowed fans with their first red carpet appearance together in February 2025.
Talking with Entertainment Tonight in June, Momoa called Arjona his “motorcycle-riding partner.” He smiled as he added, “My lady likes to ride. Any excuse for more hugs.” By August, a source revealed Momoa “spends a lot of time with” Arjona. “She makes him happy. She’s very adventurous and down-to-earth. They love the outdoors and enjoy motorcycle rides together.”
Before Arjona, Momoa was with Eiza González for a few months in 2022, right after he and Bonet revealed their split in January. Momoa shot to fame as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones and as Aquaman. Arjona is rising star known for 2022’s Morbius and Netflix’s 2024 Hit Man with Glen Powell.
Here’s a peek into Adria Arjona’s world.
She’s from Puerto Rico
Arjona was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on April 25, 1992. Her parents, Leslie Torres and Ricardo Arjona, welcomed her into a vibrant island life. However, she moved to Mexico City as a young child and stayed there until her teenage years.
In a chat with Numéro Netherlands, she described her childhood as “growing up all over the place.” Besides her Puerto Rican heritage, she also traces her roots to Guatemala through her dad’s side. That mix of cultures has shaped the unique voice she shares with the world.
“I feel Puerto Rican on the island, Guatemalan in Guatemala, and Mexican in Mexico,” she shared. “But I have no consistent label to carry. My Spanish has no fixed accent and keeps people guessing. I’m proud to be Puerto Rican, proud to be Guatemalan, and proud to have grown up in Mexico, yet I’m equally proud that I don’t feel tied to any single place. That in-between space gives me freedom in acting. I don’t have roots that weigh me down.”
Her dad is Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona.
Arjona isn’t the only artist in her bloodline. Her father’s music has filled stadiums across the globe. In a March 2018 chat with CHICA, she said watching him work fuels her ambitions. “He drives me to push harder and keeps me reaching for new heights,” she said. “He tells me never to stop feeding my mind along with my body.”
Family, she added, is still her strongest fan club. “My whole family is on my side, cheering me on every step,” she shared. “Dad is my biggest influencer. He plays my videos for his buddies like they’re the latest hit show, and it makes me smile every time. Knowing I make him proud is the best feeling.”
Adria Arjona studied at the renowned Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
After moving from Mexico to Miami at age 12, Arjona kept chasing her dreams. When she turned 18, the bright lights of New York City called. She dove into the city’s energy, juggling late-night auditions with days spent at Strasberg, learning every nuance that would shape her career.
Between classes, she juggled shifts as a waitress and hostess in the city, hustling to pay rent and tuition. “Waiting tables taught me how to respect a dollar and put in real effort,” she told CHICA. “Being on my feet for hours showed me I could handle long days—now, I don’t blink at a 16-hour shoot.”
she was cast as Dorothy Gale in the NBC series Emerald City.
Her big moment came when she was cast as Dorothy Gale in the NBC series Emerald City, a modern twist on the Oz books. After smaller parts in movies like Pacific Rim Uprising and Life of the Party, and a recurring turn on True Detective, the role put her front and center.
Even though the show only lasted one season, doors kept opening. Since then, she has been in Morbius, Father of the Bride, Good Omens, Andor, and the film Hit Man. Most recently, she played the lead in Blink Twice, directed by Zoë Kravitz, who is Jason Momoa’s stepdaughter.
Was she ever married?
Like Momoa, she walked down the aisle before. She married lawyer Edgardo Canales in 2019, and the pair showed up at the Vanity Fair Oscars party the next year. Details of the marriage stayed mostly under wraps, and it’s still a mystery when the split happened.
She and Momoa first crossed paths on the set of Sweet Girl.
Before love was in the picture, Arjona and Momoa worked together in the 2021 action flick Sweet Girl. Filming kicked off in November 2019, likely the moment they were introduced and began to know one another.
The public got to see their romance in May 2024.
On May 20, 2024, Momoa shared a photo of himself embracing Arjona at dinner in Japan, marking their first Instagram reveal. “Japan, you are a dream come true you blew my mind,” he captioned. “We’re so thankful for everyone who opened their homes, making memories with new friends and old friends, sharing another amazing adventure with mi amor.”
Before that post, he’d hinted at a new girlfriend while at the Basingstoke Comic Con in England just weeks earlier. “I am very much in a relationship,” he told fans, promising they’d soon learn her name.
Since going public, they’ve kept the love online. In November 2024, the pair lit up Instagram again, swapping heart emojis on each other’s photos—now a regular signature in their playful back-and-forth.
When did she and Momoa first step out together on a red carpet
On Valentine’s Day 2025, Jason Momoa and Ana de Arjona walked the red carpet together at the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, marking their official debut as a couple.
They didn’t wait long to follow it up. Just a few days later, on February 18, they were back on the carpet for the SNL50: The Anniversary Special at 30 Rockefeller Center, looking just as stylish and happy together.
