Inside Georgina Rodríguez’s $3M Engagement Ring from Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo surprised longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez with an engagement ring that many are calling one of the biggest ever worn by a celebrity. The ring features a giant oval diamond surrounded by two smaller oval diamonds, and Rodríguez showed it off to her Instagram followers.
What We Know
Experts say the center diamond is probably more than 30 carats. The ring’s main stone is impossible to overlook. Lauren Boc, founder of Hera Fine Jewelry, estimates the oval diamond weighs between 30 and 35 carats.
Ann Grimmett, from Jared Jewelers, thinks it looks like a 30- to 40-carat diamond with 1-carat oval diamonds on each side. Steph Mazuera, founder of a custom ring brand that bears her name, also backs the 30- to 40-carat estimate.
A Secure and Stylish Setting
To hold the giant center diamond securely, the setting seems to use double-claw prongs. Boc points out that this is a smart choice for a stone of this weight. The prongs not only cling to the stone for safety, but the thin metal also lets more light shine through, making the diamond sparkle even more.
“The double-claw prongs are a solid choice to keep that giant diamond in place—the more metal supporting it, the safer it is!” she says. “I suspect the ring was hand-forged by a really skilled goldsmith, which gives the prongs a denser, stronger grip than a standard wax-cast piece.” Though Georgina Rodríguez photo isn’t clear, Boc thinks the head is platinum, “because platinum is the strongest metal to cradle that much carat weight.”
Mazuera chimes in, “It’s tough to spot every detail in Georgina Rodríguez ring, but a diamond this size demands top-notch engineering. The platinum setting was probably hand-forged for top strength, featuring cathedral shoulders, a thick shank, and a reinforced base. Security for the diamond is key, but so is distributing weight across the finger—serious metal is a must to balance that giant stone.”
Grimmett calls out the ring’s smart construction, noting, “The bold setting adds firmness around the big center and surrounding stones.”
The ring clocks in at over $3 million.
According to ELLE, So, a diamond like Rodríguez’s doesn’t come at a bargain. Three top gem experts—Grimmett, Mazuera, and Boc—place the value of Georgina Rodríguez’s ring in the multi-million dollar range. Boc explains, “At this size, the final price really depends on the color, clarity, and cut quality. Diamonds of this carat weight and top quality are extremely uncommon. And the better the quality, the scarcer they become. Assessing from the photo, I’d ballpark it around $3 to $5 million.”

Mazuera adds, “I’d also say it’s comfortably in the multi-million zone.” But Grimmett is more optimistic: “The ring may land anywhere from $5 to $15 million, hinging on the clarity rating of the center and side stones.”
The ring’s three-stone setting sets it apart.
Rodríguez and Ronaldo matched a grand oval center diamond with matching oval side stones, a pairing Boc describes as rare. “Most of our clients favor a big oval center with smaller round or baguette side stones. This trio swaps the traditional cuts and gives it a fresh, sleek look.”
Mazuera is equally impressed with the side stones. “The overall scale is stunning. Even one of the sidestones would stand alone as a remarkable ring, and it would still be larger than what most would consider a big engagement ring.”

This ring has a super glamorous vibe—totally Old Hollywood—like something Elizabeth Taylor or a royal princess would have on her hand. Because it’s chunky and has three big stones, Rodríguez doesn’t slip it on every single day. Like Lauren Sánchez Bezos, whose engagement ring is also a whopping 30 carats, Rodríguez keeps her jaw-dropping sparkler for nights out and fancy events.
Boc points out that the positioning of the side stones is key: “The oval side stones sit right between her fingers, meaning she won’t be able to tightly close her hand or make a fist while wearing the ring.
At Hera, we design our rings so stones stay outside the fingers for everyday comfort, but a large center diamond like this one probably meant we couldn’t pull it off. She may plan to save the ring for special events anyway—it’s definitely eye-catching!”
Rodríguez’s ring carries on the elongated-stone trend.
What do Rodríguez, Selena Gomez, Zendaya, and Hailey Bieber have in common? Each chose an engagement ring with a long center diamond. Grimmett explains that Rodríguez’s design keeps that look going: “The center diamond, a high-color stone, has a lovely long silhouette on her hand and fits the world of elongated fancies perfectly.”
Boc highlights the oval cut, which is a bestseller for her clients: “At Hera, ovals have outsold every other shape since day one, so Georgina’s decision is right on the mark with what our brides want.”
